What counts as “street art” can be difficult to define, but we know it when we see it. Street art is public, but art on private property can also be street art. Street art is often viewed as less legitimate. All art forms can have something important to socially contribute. Street art can then be conceptualized as art that is not in a formal museum, gallery setting, or that is easily observable.
